OTTAWA - One of the first acts of the NDP under newly elected leader Thomas Mulcair was to vote against a bill encouraging Canadians to "proudly display the National Flag of Canada."
The Conservatives and Liberals voted in favour of Bill C-288, the National Flag of Canada Act, sponsored by Tory MP John Carmichael and Heritage Minister James Moore. A previous version, introduced last year, included fines and up to two years in jail for condo boards or housing authorities that try to prevent Canadians from flying the flag.
The new version contains no such penalties.
The NDP faced some criticism for not displaying enough Canadian flags during last weekend's leadership convention. An NDP spokesman couldn't immediately explain the party's position
"This is a must listen too "

Zimmerman’s Father: Trayvon Martin Got On Top Of My Son And Started Beating Him, Said “You’re Going To Die Tonight”…

According to the left St. Trayvon would never do such a thing.
LAKE MARY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) — For the first time since that fateful night on February 26, the father of a neighborhood watch volunteer who shot and killed an unarmed teenager sat down for a television interview.
Robert Zimmerman, father of George Zimmerman, said he decided it was time to speak out for his son, against the advice of others. He shared with us what George said happened on the night that 17-year-old Trayvon Martin died.
“It’s my understanding that Trayvon Martin got on top of him and just started beating him,” the 64-year-old Robert Zimmerman said.
He said he felt his son has been portrayed in the wrong way. He also said he and his family have received death threats and asked that we not show his face on camera.
Because there has been a lot of break-ins in the area, Robert said George thought it suspicious that someone would not be walking on the street or the sidewalk on a rainy night — that Martin would be walking between the town homes. He said after making those observations, his son decided to call the police.
“He called the non-emergency number first, and they asked him where he was, because he was at the rear of the town houses and there was no street sign,” said Robert.
Even though a dispatcher told George Zimmerman not to follow Martin, his father said his son continued his pursuit to locate an address to give to police.
“He lost sight of the individual, he continued to walk down the same sidewalk to the next street, so he could get an address for the police,” he said.
“He went to the next street, realized where he was and was walking to his vehicle. It’s my understanding, at that point, Trayvon Martin walked up to him and asked him, ‘Do you have a [expletive] problem?’ George said, ‘No, I don’t have a problem,’ and started to reach for his cell phone. . . at that point, he (Martin) was punching him in the nose, his nose was broken and he was knocked to the concrete.”
Robert said Trayvon, “continued to beat George, and at some point, George pulled his pistol and did what he did.”
When asked about the screams for help which were heard on a 911 call, Robert replied, “All of our family, everyone who knows George, knows absolutely that is George screaming. There’s no doubt in anyone’s mind.”

Palin on Obama’s comments about Trayvon Martin: “I think it was orchestrated”

Via Todd Starnes:
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said lawmakers need to tone down the rhetoric in the aftermath of the Trayvon Martin shooting and suggested that President Obama orchestrated remarks he made about the teenager’s death.
“It’s not going to do anybody any good to ratchet up the rhetoric based on speculation,” Palin told Fox News. . . .
She also called out President Obama — saying he should not have jumped into the growing outrage over the shooting.
“I think it was orchestrated,” Palin said. “I’m going to get clobbered for even suggesting this, but it is what I believe.”
The president addressed the shooting in the Rose Garden.
“My main message is to the parents of Trayvon Martin. You know, if I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon,” Obama said. “All of us as Americans are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves.”
“Obviously, this is a tragedy. I can only imagine what these parents are going through,” Obama said. “All of us have to do some soul searching to figure out how something like this has happened.
Palin said she was “very, very surprised out of all the issues that are going on in our country today that the president” would have taken a question about the Martin case.

The families hit the nail on the head when they said it appears “Mr. Obama sees no political value in facilitating such a request.”
(Telegraph) — The parents of two British students murdered in Florida have criticised President Barack Obama for his lack of compassion over their son’s deaths.
His failure to respond to three letters sent to the White House was because there was no “political value” and not worthy of a few minutes of his time.
They spoke out as teenager Shawn Tyson began a life sentence after being found guilty of the murder of James Cooper and James Kouzaris last April.
The 17 year old, who shot the men as they begged for their lives, will die in prison. [...]
Later speaking after Tyson was jailed Davies and Hallett lashed out at Mr Obama saying the deaths of their friends was “not worthy of ten minutes of his time.”
Davies said:”We would like to publicly express our dissatisfaction at the lack of any public or private message of support or condolence from any American governing body or indeed, President Obama himself.
“Mr Kouzaris has written to President Obama on three separate occasions and is yet to even receive the courtesy of a reply.
“It would perhaps appear that Mr Obama sees no political value in facilitating such a request or that the lives of two British tourists are not worthy of ten minutes of his time.”
The rebuke follows Mr Obama’s personal intervention into the shooting in Florida of a young black teenager by a white-Hispanic neighbourhood watch captain.

Goth Child Banned From Wearing Make-Up To School–Goths Mom To Sue

Now with angry comments from a Goth activist…
A mother of a 13 year old goth boy is threatening to take his school to court if they don’t reverse their decision and let him wear make-up to school:
“They’re gender stereo-typing. He’s being sexually discriminated against. Nowhere in the rules does it say that males can’t wear make-up” says Mindy Ball.
The Hamilton mother says she stands 100% behind her son, 13-year-old Matt Allsup, an eighth grader at Garfield Middle School who wears black eye makeup, lipstick and fingernail polish.
But on Monday, he was told to wash the makeup off his face, with the assistant principal telling him it was distracting and against dress code.
“When I spoke to the principal,” Ball says, “She told me it was distracting because of the black makeup and I said, ‘Well, I’ll get him pink,’ and she said no, because he’s a male, he’s not allowed to wear it, the public don’t accept males wearing make-up.”
Freedom of expression is what Matt Allsup and his mom say this is all about.
They vow to fight the school’s ban on his black make-up and plan to hire an attorney to take the issue to court.
I can pretty much picture in my mind how the little buck-tooth woman even said those words. “Yup, the prinspal dun told me the publik don’t assept males waren the make-up…yuck yuck.”
Because of parents like this, the school board has been put in a terrible situation: if they ban kids from wearing certain things, the parents sue them because they believe their little snowflake has the *right* to wear it. If the school board let’s snowflake wear whatever he wants, some kids are going to beat the little fucker half to death, and the parents will sue because the school board didn’t take the appropriate steps to protect the loser.
The mother needs a whack to the side of her head and a kick to her (assuming here) giant ass. Why must parents insist on backing their child against authority for every single cause? Why can’t they ever seem to take the side of authority, thus teaching their snowflakes real lessons in life. It’s the schools RIGHT to enforce any dress code they deem necessary. It’s no wonder so many kids are disrespectful and hate authority, look at the source they come from.
This ugly, fat, goth loser needs to wipe that shit off his face and stop acting like a spoiled little prick. His mother needs to straighten her own life out and teach this kid a lesson via the back of her chubby hand. Goth kids are basically societies rejects, pretty well mental as the day is long, and are attention-getters, sociopaths, and generally the worlds biggest malcontents (liberals notwithstanding).
The boys insanity started at home, this much I can guarantee. His mommy needs to start acting like a parent and stop acting like a victim.
No offence to Mitchieville’s many goth readers (just kidding, full offence)
Sounds Funny but true !

‘Your God’s wrong’: Judge erupts in angry tirade, sends pro-life activist back to jail

TORONTO, Ontario, March 22, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) – An Ontario Court of Justice judge erupted in a lengthy, angry tirade against pro-life activist Mary Wagner – and ejected a spectator from the public gallery – in a downtown Toronto courtroom Wednesday. The judge then sent Wagner to jail for an additional 92 days, added to 88 days already served prior to trial, after finding her guilty of mischief and two counts of failing to comply with probation orders.
The charges related to Wagner’s November 8 arrest at the site of the Bloor West Village “Women’s Clinic.” Wagner has been arrested on several occasions for peacefully entering abortion facilities in Toronto, where she presents women in the waiting room with a rose and offers them pro-life counseling.
Pro-life activist Mary Wagner (right) with fellow pro-life activist Linda Gibbons, who has also been repeatedly arrested for violating bubble zone laws against any pro-life activity.
The remarkable scene played itself out after Crown attorney Derek Ishak and defense counsel Russell Browne made a joint submission to Mr. Justice S. Ford Clements for time served plus a three-year probationary term. But Clements emphatically rejected the submission.
“She can sit in jail, if that’s the only way to protect people,” he fulminated, calling Wagner “cowardly” for “abusing other human beings” and not having the courage to make her views known through other channels. “This is an extraordinary waste of resources. Get a grip!”
“You don’t get it, do you? What’s the rule of law? You’re required to abide by it … You’ve lost the right as a citizen to be anywhere near an abortion clinic or to speak to an employee,” he said.
“You’re wrong and your God’s wrong,” he continued. “You have complete contempt … There is a right to (abortion) in this country … You don’t have a right to cause (abortion-seeking women) extra pain and grief the way you do.”
“[Abortion] is legal,” he continued, “that’s all you have to understand … You start causing people emotional pain and harm, you think that’s okay?”
He then asked Wagner whether she would stay away from abortion sites for three years as required by the proposed terms of probation.
“I will not,” Wagner replied firmly.
“Then you’re going to jail,” said Clements.
Earlier, one of Wagner’s supporters in the public gallery spoke up and was addressed by Clements. “These (life issues) are deeply held beliefs. We respect the rule of law. There are ways to change the law. The rule of law is absolutely fundamental. We see what happens in the streets when the rule of law is ignored,” he said. “You wouldn’t like someone in your vestibule every night. People who can’t deal with that, we lock them up.”
When the man attempted to reply, he was ejected from the courtroom by Clements.

After a noon recess, Clements observed that joint submissions by the Crown and defense were not binding on a judge. He said in his view, the submission as it was would be contrary to the public interest and would bring the administration of justice into disrepute.
Asked whether she had anything to say prior to sentencing, Wagner said she saw the rule of law as a guidepost, not an absolute. “The letter of the law does not always maintain justice … abortion is a short-term solution but causes long-term pain,” she said.
She added she never acts out of a lack of sensitivity, but rather attempts to love the women to whom she speaks. She also pointed to examples from history where people who were initially regarded as criminals were later found to be in the right.
Clements was unmoved. “You have, in some measure, displayed utter contempt for the courts and the rights of others,” he said. “You appear to be governed by a higher moral order than the laws of our country.”
“Your determination to break the law is a potential threat to the well-being of society and plants the seeds of lawlessness, perhaps even anarchy … You are unable to accord some civility and respect to others. Your view in law is wrong.”
In concluding, Clements accepted the testimony of abortion site co-owner Patricia Hasen, who filed a victim impact statement that claimed financial hardship caused by Wagner’s actions, including the necessity to hire a “counselor” from another abortion site. Hasen also said she was “scared a bit” when Wagner allegedly held a door open, adding she “doesn’t trust this woman’s peaceful demeanour” and worries about potential aggression. “These people do not work alone.”
Crown attorney Ishak, in his submissions, charged that pro-life activists “prey upon the emotional vulnerability” of abortion patients as “they evidently pursue martyrdom.” The “flouting” of laws, he charged, harken back to “the Dark Ages” and blurs the line between might and right. He suggested Wagner’s actions mark an increase in “the aggressive nature” of pro-life demonstrations, creating emotional distress.
There was no immediate word on whether Wagner planned to appeal either the verdicts or what amounted to a six-month jail sentence. There is also an option to file a complaint with the Ontario Judicial Council over Clements’s statements and conduct in the courtroom. According to the OJC website, “If you have a complaint of misconduct about a provincial judge or a justice of the peace, you must state your complaint in a signed letter. The letter of complaint should include the date, time and place of the court hearing and as much detail as possible about why you feel there was misconduct.”

Canada: Book Tells Muslim Men How To Beat Their Wives In Accordance With The Koran…

Let’s all celebrate multiculturalism!
(Toronto Sun) — A local bookstore has “sold out” of a controversial marriage guide that advises Muslim men on how to beat their wives.
The 160-page book, published by Idara Impex in New Delhi, India, is written by Hazrat Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi, who’s described in the book’s foreword as a “prolific writer on almost every topic of Islamic learning.”
The store’s manager, who didn’t give his name, said the book had been sold out for some time, and the store’s owner, whom the manager identified as Shamim Ahmad, refused to comment for the story.
It wasn’t clear whether the shop has ordered more copies of the book, but it’s available at online Islamic bookstores and even through eBay.
In the book’s opening pages, it is written that “it might be necessary to restrain her with strength or even to threaten her.”
Later, its author advises that “the husband should treat the wife with kindness and love, even if she tends to be stupid and slow sometimes.”
Page 45 contains the rights of the husband, which include his wife’s inability to leave “his house without his permission,” and that his wife must “fulfil his desires” and “not allow herself to be untidy … but should beautify herself for him … ”
In terms of physical punishment, the book advises that a husband may scold her, “beat by hand or stick,” withhold money from her or “pull (her) by the ears,” but should “refrain from beating her excessively.”

Air Canada: The Math Tells the Story

Interesting times at Canadian airports these days, but it's not clear whether the average Canadian understands precisely what the real problem at Air Canada really is.
Charles Adler's end of week segment with the Globe & Mail's Dan Cook revealed some startling facts:
> Market Cap: $227 Million = $0.227 Billion
> Pension Liabilities: $13 Billion
In other words, the company owes approximately 57 times in union pension commitments than it is currently worth.
Since many people's eyes glaze over when they see "millions" & "billions", another way to look at is like this:
Imagine a 25 year old, living on his own in a rented apartment, tallies up everything he owns and determines it to be worth $10,000. Then he looks at credit card and bank statements and realizes he owes $570,000.
That, in a nutshell, is Air Canada's predicament today.

U.S. sent suspect back to France from Afghanistan: Prosecutor

CALGARYHERALD: TOULOUSE, France – The U.S. army sent a Frenchman currently besieged by police in Toulouse after the killings of seven people, back to France after he was arrested in Afghanistan, a prosecutor said Wednesday.
Afghan police detained the man at a road checkpoint and handed him over to the U.S. army “who put him on the first plane headed to France,” prosecutor Francois Molins told reporters.
Molins, France’s top anti-terror magistrate who is overseeing the probe into the killing of three soldiers, three Jewish children and a teacher, did not provide a date or details of the Afghan arrest of suspect Mohamed Merah.
He said it occurred on one of two trips the 23-year-old Frenchman of Algerian origin made to Afghanistan. Molins said the second trip began in mid-August last year and lasted two months.
French police were laying siege Wednesday to an apartment block in Toulouse where the self-declared al-Qaida militant Merah was holed up.

Is There Nothing That Obama Can't Do?

So let's see. The president sneers at the ignorance of 15th century Spaniards when, in fact, he is the one entirely ignorant of them. A man who has enjoyed a million dollars of elite education yet has never created a dime of wealth in his life sneers at a crippled farm boy with an eighth-grade schooling who establishes a successful business and introduces electrical distribution across Michigan all the way up to Sault Ste Marie. A man sneers at one of the pioneering women in broadcasting, a lady who brought the voices of T.S. Eliot, G.K. Chesterton and others into the farthest-flung classrooms and would surely have rejected Obama's own dismal speech as being too obviously reliant on "Half-A-Dozen Surefire Cheap Cracks For Lazy Public Speakers." A man whose own budget officials predict the collapse of the entire U.S. economy by 2027 sneers at a solvent predecessor for being insufficiently "forward-looking."

It's Probably Nothing

Examiner.com;
On March 16th, President Obama signed a new Executive Order which expands upon a prior order issued in 1950 for Disaster Preparedness, and gives the office of the President complete control over all the resources in the United States in times of war or emergency.
The National Defense Resources Preparedness order gives the Executive Branch the power to control and allocate energy, production, transportation, food, and even water resources by decree under the auspices of national defense and national security. The order is not limited to wartime implementation, as one of the order's functions includes the command and control of resources in peacetime determinations.

Massachusetts principal replaces 'St. Patrick's Day' with 'O'Green Day'

Published March 15, 2012
| FoxNews.com
A Massachusetts school principal is renaming "St. Patrick's Day" with "O'Green Day" in an effort to be "inclusive and diverse," while some parents are blasting the decision as "stupid" and illogical.
Lisa Curtin, principal of the Soule Road School in Wilbraham, Mass., decided to change the name to ease discomfort that some students might have in celebrating St. Patrick's Day or Valentine's Day -- which last month was renamed to "Caring and Kindness Day," according to parents with children in the school.

The St. Patrick's Day holiday falls on a Saturday this year, but students at the elementary school will still be encouraged to wear green during class on Friday and eat green vegetables in the cafeteria.
"I think it's ridiculous," said Dina LaMotte, whose daughter is a fifth-grader at the school. "What's next, birthdays?"
"It should be either in or out," added Wilbraham resident Theresa Finnegan. "They're still celebrating it by calling it a different name, which makes no sense to me. It's totally illogical.
"Those two holidays are holidays that have become over the years very secular in nature," she said.
Curtin referred all media inquiries to Wilbraham Schools Superintendent Martin O'Shea, who was not immediately available for comment Thursday.
LaMotte and others say Curtin's heart is in the right place, but claim her ruling is "political correctness gone too far."
"It's really stupid," said Janet Carlyle, whose three children attended the school.
"Everybody is Irish on St. Patrick's Day," Carlyle told FoxNews.com. "It's not a holiday that's generally associated with a religion."
What's worse, Carlyle called the renaming of the holiday insulting and "unfair" to Irish Catholic students for whom the holiday might have special meaning.
"I would have been really annoyed if my kids were still in the school," added Carlyle, who is not Catholic but said she celebrates the holiday "like most normal people do" by eating green mash potatoes.

TOLD ya it was a bunch of crap !
OTTAWA - Elections Canada has whittled down a campaign of manufactured outrage over voting irregularities to 700 real or imagined complaints - a far cry from the 31,000 contacts it sifted through.

But the agency can't say how many of the mischief complaints it has received - through what a QMI Agency investigation found was a deliberate attempt to muddy the waters - are "fraudulent or improper." Nor would it say how many of the country's 308 ridings had complaints from the May 2 election.

Chief Electoral Officer Marc Mayrand cautioned against reading too much into the numbers until the investigation is completed.

"I advise caution about drawing conclusions based on possibly inaccurate and incomplete information," he said.
His warning fell on deaf ears in the Commons, with the NDP saying there were 700 cases of fraud even though Elections Canada has come to no such conclusions - including about the official Opposition's own participation in alleged misconduct.

The NDP, Liberals and Conservatives have been trading barbs and accusations for the past few weeks in the Commons since an investigation of fraudulent phone calls to misdirect voters to the wrong polls in Guelph, Ont., resurfaced.

All three major parties have been accused of dirty tricks - from nuisance and fraudulent phone calls to stacking voter lists.

NDP MP Pat Martin is the only MP so far being sued in the melodrama playing out on Parliament Hill for suggesting a telecom firm that provides robocalling services was involved in nefarious activities. The suit calls for $5 million in damages.

He was also forced to publicly apologize to another firm for similar accusations

Moroccans demand change to Islamic penal code after girl, 16, kills herself because judge forced her to marry her RAPIST

  • Online petition after case of teen who swallowed rat poison in protest
  • Women’s rights activist describes horror as ‘recurring phenomenon’
  • ‘Law protects public morality but not the individual’
By LEE MORAN
PUBLISHED: 13:46 GMT, 14 March 2012 | UPDATED: 18:49 GMT, 14 March 2012
Angry Moroccans are demanding a change to the country’s strict Islamic penal code after a 16-year-old girl killed herself after being forced to marry her rapist.
An online petition, a Facebook page and countless tweets expressed horror over the suicide of Amina Filali, who swallowed rat poison on Saturday in protest at her marriage to the man who raped her a year earlier.
Article 475 of the Moroccan penal code allows for the ‘kidnapper’ of a minor to marry his victim to escape prosecution, and it has been used to justify a traditional practice of making a rapist marry his victim to preserve the honour of the woman’s family.
‘Amina, 16, was triply violated, by her rapist, by tradition and by Article 475 of the Moroccan law,’ tweeted activist Abadila Maaelaynine.
Abdelaziz Nouaydi, who runs the Adala Assocation for legal reform, said a judge can recommend marriage only in the case of agreement by the victim and both families.
‘It is not something that happens a great deal – it is very rare,’ he said, but admitted that the family of the victim sometimes agrees out of fear that she won’t be able to find a husband if it is known she was raped.
The marriage is then pushed on the victim by the families to avoid scandal, said Fouzia Assouli, president of Democratic League for Women’s Rights.
‘It is unfortunately a recurring phenomenon,’ she said.’We have been asking for years for the cancellation of Article 475 of the penal code which allows the rapist to escape justice.’

Leadnow "CBC Cuts" RoboSpam Campaign Run From US Union Web Site

Astroturfing is a form of advocacy in support of a political, organizational, or corporate agenda, designed to give the appearance of a "grassroots" movement.

Leadnow is RoboSpamming MP's to prevent CBC cuts. In affiliation with Openmedia they run ReimagineCBC.ca. Both claim to be "grassroots" organizations. One of their form letter talking points is; "I oppose severe cuts to the CBC. We need good public media to keep Canada connected."

Evidently keeping Canada "connected" means using a US Union's web site to run their Spam Campaign.

By clicking on the link "* Having trouble with this form? Click here." at the ReimagineCBC web site you're directed to this URL:http://action.cwa-union.org/c/779/p/dia/action/public/?action_KEY=3907.

"CWA-Union.org" is the Communications Workers Of America web site, you can read their Obama endorsement here. Imagine that, Leadnow & Openmedia are cutting Canadian IT workers out of RoboSpam jobs by outsourcing to the US!

Tsk tsk..Leadnow & Openmedia the "Brains" behind ReimagineCBC, are lying about being grassroots organizations.

They are in fact is just BIG Union Tools.

Below is a letter from the CBC congratulating Leadnow & Openmedia on their "Grassroot" efforts to save the CBC via the ReimagineCBC campaign.

Leadnow & Openmeadia are not a "grassroots" organization. In fact they are allied with big labour, specifically the CWA - The Communications Workers Of America to such an extent they use the Unions IT infrastructure to run their RoboSpam campaign.

The CWA via the Canadian Media Guild represents unionized CBC employees - see jpg.

Strange bedfellows wouldn't you say? I mean management, being the CBC, and ReimagineCBC, the Leadnow/Openmedia/ CWA union front working toward a shared goal...the continued extortion of your tax dollars. Oh, I guess that isn't so strange after all.

What's wrong with this picture?

It's called Astroturfing.

CBC Congratualtes Leadnow & Openmedia -

Hmmm, Commenter WallyJ smells a rat:

A quick recap.Leftie leadnow starts the bogus complaint petition.

The cbc links to this petition, increasing leadnow's members and donations

The opposition uses the petition to enrage Canadians against the Conservatives.

cbc uses this outrage to demonize the Conservatives.

Leadnow starts a letter writing campaign to criticize the cuts to the cbc by the Conservatives.

Tinfoil time or does this smell like a conspiracy?

*Big thanks Ann & WallyJ and everyone who contributed to this post!

 The Decline of the West

Last Fall a business professor in Bangalore, India published a detailed column that explained why America and Europe are on a permanent decline into oblivion. He cited several reasons why, but Nationalization of the Family and Entitlement Mentality were two prime ones.
Here's a snippet:
The crisis faced by the West is primarily because it has forgotten a six-letter word called ‘saving’ which, again, is the result of forgetting another six letter word called “family”. The West has nationalised families over the last 60 years. Old age, ill health, single motherhood – everything is the responsibility of the state. When family is a “burden” and children an “encumbrance,” society goes for a toss. Household savings have been negative in the US for long. The total debt to GDP ratio is as high as 400 percent in many countries, including UK. Not only that, the West is facing a severe demographic crisis. The population of Europe during the First World War was nearly 25 percent and today it is around 11 percent and expected to become 3 percent in another 20 years. Europe will disappear from the world map unless migrants from Africa and Asia take it over.
The demographic crisis impacts the West in other ways. Social security goes for a toss since people are living longer and not many from below contribute to their pensions through taxes. So the nationalisation of families becomes a burden on the state.

What's the Difference Between Socialists and Communists?

In a fascinating new column, George Jonas, provides a recent history of examples of socialism & communism in Europe. He ponders what the actual difference is between these two groups. Not much, it seems, other than that socialists offer a short window of opportunity for citizens to voluntarily comply with the same imposed measures.
Some say Europe is in trouble because the poor want to live as well as the rich. Close, but no cigar. If Europe’s in trouble, it isn’t because the poor want to live as well as the rich, but because some do. They live as well as the rich without having bothered to become rich first.A bad idea is for poor people to live as well as the rich while they’re still poor. Even living half as well is a bad idea unless they are, in fact, half as rich. It’s bad because it can’t be done. At least, it can be done only until somebody presents the bill, which is currently happening in Europe.

US SHERIFF OFFERS FORENSIC EVIDENCE THAT OBAMA’S LONG FORM BIRTH CERTIFICATE WAS FORGED…….

The man (Obama) is both a fraud and a huckster, but this is how things are going to go down in light of the press conference. The White House/Democratic party, the US federal government and the media (the iron triangle) will treat the sheriff as a persona non grata, and ignore the press conference as if it never happened. The media will either go after the sheriff and his forensic team, ripping them apart, and having their hides shown for viewing, or ignore them altogether.
House Republicans will not wish to become embroiled in the matter they consider moot, and refrain from mentioning it, let alone distancing themselves from it. I hope however that this emboldens other law enforcement officials to enquire, get curious and investigate the matter themselves. Only if enough law enforcement come on board will this ever become a real issue.

An Inconvenient Number

Everybody and his dog knows by now that if you ask millions of Conservative-hating Canadians if they seen somethin' in the woodshed during the run-up to last year's federal election, they're going to respond in the affirmative by the tens of thousands. But there's another far more important number that hasn't been released, or at least, a number that certainly hasn't been widely reported, if it's been reported at all, a number that the reporters at the CBC and other anti-Conservative media could surely use their investigative smarts to come up with: precisely how many complaints did Elections Canada receive in the days immediately following the last federal election - as opposed to nine months later, after ample prompting - from voters who said they didn't get to cast their ballot because they'd been directed to the wrong polling station?
Surely Elections Canada keeps a records of such things, and would be happy to release the number – heck, you'd think they have a duty to release the number.
Bet it's a really interesting number.

Ethical Oil

Male nurse fired for treating female Muslims

A former medic in Dearborn, Michigan is going after his old employers with a sex discrimination suit. According to John Benitez Jr, he lost his job with the city’s Department of Health because he provided medical care to Muslim patients.
Benitez, 63, has spent half his life as a registered nurse. In September 2010, he joined the ranks of Dearborn’s Health Department to assist patients in one of the largest Muslim communities in America. Even with a booming population of immigrants practicing Islam, the nurse says that his supervisor told him that they were off limits.
Benitez says that his former employer lectured him against providing care to female Muslim patients that sought help, and instead asked him to send them to her, a Muslim, for treatment. According to the suit recently filed, the Muslim supervisor told Benitez that “conservative” Muslims, specifically women garbed in hijab head scarves, would not want to be touched by a male nurse.
Benitez followed the instruction until November 17, when according to the legal filing, a doctor questioned him “about the cumbersome and unusual practice of taking women wearing a head scarf to the nursing supervisor for care.” As a trained, licensed medical professional — and employee of the city — Benitez should have been providing care to anyone in need. After the doctor confronted him about it in November and said the supervisor’s instructions were “improper,” Benitez went back to treating everyone that came in.
Only two weeks later, Benitez was fired.
According to the legal papers, the nurse was explicitly told that the termination was “not because of any performance problem, but was instead carried out because the clinic’s conservative male Muslim clientele did not want a male treating female patients.” More than 30 years after entering the practice — a tenure which included a stint asVietnam war Army medic — the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission gave Benitez the go ahead to sue last month and on Wednesday he filed the discrimination suit in Detroit U.S. District Court.

Shocked! Shocked I say!

To answer the question, yes, I'm shocked! Shocked that the Gov't recognizes these wing-nuts aren't in it for Canada, our economy, or the jobs that support the teat they are suckled to. Shocked that the Gov't recognizes the disastrous policy of relying on the United States as the single consumer of our oil and for the vast majority of our product.
I respectfully ask that you go right on shocking me, Mr. Prime Minister.

Prairie Valley School division up to it again ?

SK: What's Your School Board Up To?

There are over 250 school boards nation-wide in Canada, so it’s difficult for a non-profit, taxpayers’ watchdog organization like the Canadian Taxpayers Federation to keep tabs on each one.

But thanks to whistleblowers and vigilant taxpayers from Saskatchewan’s Prairie Valley School Division (PVSD), we’ve learned more about questionable things happening at the PVSD. Perhaps you might consider investigating some of the same issues with your own board to see what they are doing.

For starters, according to the PVSD’s minutes, its trustees will be meeting with the Minister of Education on March 14 to discuss concerns they have with the province’s new funding model. Yet after raising their concerns about a potential funding shortage, the trustees will then head off to a spa retreat in Moose Jaw for 2-3 days.

Yes, nothing says “we can’t afford a reduction in funding” like a trip to the spa.

In fact, the spa “retreat” is the second one for school trustees in the past eight months. Last August, trustees and senior board officials went to Good Spirit Lake for a couple days to squeeze in a few meetings and golf.

It’s true that many workplaces often hold retreats for staff each year, but one has to remember we’re talking about multiple, expensive retreats for part-time trustees – all the while crying poor.

Incredibly, while at the Good Spirit Lake retreat last year, the trustees even held one of their regularly scheduled public meetings there. That meant that if any parents in the PVSD wanted to attend the meeting, they would have had to drive outside the division for an hour or so to attend.

Speaking of driving, how does a school trustee rack up over $10,000 in mileage expenses in a single year? If you want to know, you might ask PVSD’s trustee Ms. Janet Kotylak who, including the high mileage bill, cost local taxpayers over $55,000 in pay and expenses in 2008-09. The board average that year was $24,670.

But the largesse doesn’t end there. At another board meeting, the division passed a couple interesting back-to-back motions. In the first motion, the board accepted the resignation of its Education Director, Ben Grebinski, so that he could retire and begin drawing on his pension. Moments later, the board passed a motion to hire him back so that he could also draw a salary.

Unfortunately for taxpayers, the pension plan Mr. Grebinski belongs to already has a $4.6 billion unfunded liability. Thus, the more people draw on the fund, the more it ends up costing taxpayers.

Another interesting aspect of the Prairie Valley School Board is that although its enrolment has decreased over the years – from 8,292 students in 2005 to 7,803 students in 2010 – the division is proceeding with a $6.6 million school board office expansion.

Local ratepayers are questioning whether the PVSD even has the authority for the office expansion and a number of other capital projects it is pursuing. You see, Ministry of Education guidelines state quite clearly that capital projects must be approved by the Ministry prior to proceeding. Yet if you look on the Ministry’s 2011-2015 approved capital projects list, many of the PVSD’s capital projects don’t appear to have approval.

One thing is for certain, school boards need local watch dogs too. Thanks to some diligent taxpayers at the Prairie Valley School Division, we all know more about what to look out for.

Say No to the Nanny state

We all know smoking is bad for your health — 37,000 Canadians die from smoking-related illness every year. Does any credible person out there actually doubt that smoking causes cancer?
The public has been aware of the danger for over two generations. Reader’s Digest blew the lid off the lighter in December 1952 when it published a series called “Cancer by the carton.” Nearly 60 years ago!
Since then Big Tobacco has made reparation payments of untold billions. Ontario is currently suing cigarette makers for $50 billion. Virtually all forms of product promotion for this legal industry have been outlawed. Individual cigarette use has been curtailed everywhere you look. Smokers have been pushed into darkened corners like trolls.
I’m not a tobacco lobbyist. I’m actually a “born again non-smoker.” I smoked those cancer sticks on and off for years and know the irrational nature of addiction. It wasn’t just bad for my health, it was bad for my career. I need this throat and these lungs to do my job. Let me be clear: I hate smoking. You better not blow smoke in my face.
But I’m all about freedom. People can do what they want as long as they don’t impose it on me and restrictions on tobacco use in indoor public places has accomplished that goal. Smokers and non-smokers are no longer forced to co-exist. Everyone should be happy. But they’re not.
The anti-smoking nannystaters won’t quit. They keep pushing to put us on the path to prohibition.
While the Canadian government publicly condemns the tobacco industry, it has no problem filling its snuff box with over $6 billion in tax revenue. It’s like nanny state nirvana — milk the cash cow while controlling our freedoms with restrictions that have gotten out of control.
At what point do we stop blaming big tobacco? At what point do smokers take personal responsibility for their actions? The anti-tobacco lobby continues to push us towards prohibition — a movement that’s gone beyond scientific reason. It’s turned into nothing more than an activist crusade. No other industry is treated this way.
Those grotesque pictures of lung cancer on packs of smoke are ridiculous. Shock advertising doesn’t work and sets a dangerous precedence. Sugar rots teeth — will we soon see graphic pictures of tooth decay on candy packaging? More than 2,000 Canadians drown every year. Will bathing suits soon have pictures of people going down for the third time?
And this clampdown on personal freedoms has turned into persecution. Ottawa bans smoking on all city property including parks, beaches and patios and there are similar initiatives across Canada from British Columbia to Newfoundland. Smoking bans at not just parks and patios but sports fields, bus stops, zoos and even cemeteries!
There’s a movement underway in the U.K. to completely ban smoking in cars. And there’s forces at work to do the same here. Is there no more personal space than your car?
But it doesn’t stop there. Rocklin, Calif., is pushing to ban outdoor smoking altogether. They don’t even want you smoking in your own backyard.
Time to stop the blame game against big tobacco. We all know the dangers. We’ve known it for 60 years. It’s time for people to take some personal responsibility for their actions. And that’s Canadian common sense.
